Biology
|
- S4 to S7 students to draw a concept map after each session to consolidate their learning and to train them to be an active learner. The best ones will be uploaded to e-class for sharing.
- Panel members to conduct lessons by using the skills of cooperative learning in the coming academic year.
- S7 students to conduct mini- research projects on selected topics. Research projects to be handed in with a power-point presentation.
- To encourage students to have pre-lesson preparation, panel members will provide questions for students to answer in the next lesson that will be taken from the syllabus.
- A discussion forum will be set in S3 for the topic of “Health and Disease”. The questions posted will be used in quizzes to encourage students to take an active part in the forum. In addition, the multiple choice questions of HKCEE exam papers will be divided into different topics and uploaded to e-class for students’ self-study.

Chemistry
|
- Task 1: Ask S4 to S7 students to study some assigned topics themselves (with guidelines provided) and complete tests on these topics.
- Task 2: (a) Ask S3 to S7 students to read and highlight the main points in any chemistry-related articles of their own choices or assigned materials. (b) Ask students to write questions and answers (with guidelines provided) based on the reading materials. (c) Teach students reading skills before task 2 and share students’ good examples after task 2.
- Task 3: Ask each S3 to S6 student to read a chemistry book and complete a book report worksheet.
- Task 4: Ask S4 to S7 students to self-mark some of their own assignments.
- Task 5: Ask S4 and S6 students to raise challenging questions and find out the corresponding answers on their own.
- Task 6: Ask S3 to S6 students to read before lessons. Assign students some tasks (e.g. exercise in the textbook, worksheets, presentation, mini-teaching, pre-lab quiz, searching) before the teaching of each topic.
- Task 7: Ask S3 to S6 students to reorganize the knowledge acquired by constructing graphic organizers (e.g. concept map, venn diagram and table).
- Task 8: Ask S3 to S7 students to participate actively in class by arranging various class activities (e.g. discussion, presentation, mini-teaching, cooperative learning)

- 鼓勵學生主動學習,要求學生課前預習。中一至中三:同學預先完成筆記工作紙;中四至中五:完成課本上的預習問題;中六至中七:老師擬定問題,並指定閱讀範圍,讓同學預習。

- S4 & 5 – Students are required to do lesson preparation. Questions will be asked to ensure students do their work.
- S6 & 7 – Students are required to do some reading before lessons. They need to share their findings in class.

- Form coordinators: (a) To conduct a 2-minute speech in class in S1-7. (b) To conduct group presentations/ debates in class in S1-7. (c) To encourage students to write to local English newspapers. (d) To include interactive activities and pre-lesson learning as parts of the teaching plan.
- Ross & Dale: To organize mini-debating competitions for S1-2 in English Corner.

- S.3 students to do a Geography project following a visit to the ‘observatory’ in Hong Kong Park.
- S.4 and S.6 students to do a group project which includes a model, a board, a scrap book and a power-point presentation.
- Students to do class presentations on current issues related to geography.
- Discussion on issue-based questions and on how to tackle geographical issues and problems in all forms.

- Pre-reading supported by guided questions & requiring students to attempt tasks before lessons.

- Equip students with the necessary skills to engage in higher order learning & experience satisfaction in active & independent learning: (a) Encourage students to diversify reading scopeàreading of history related writings or materials (b) Teach students reading skillsà techniques in reading and comprehension (e.g. how to distinguish ideas from facts) (c) Teach students language skillà techniques in memorizing spelling, note-making & skills of writing concisely and precisely (d) Teach students essay writing skillsà essay writing format and structure; presentation skills: continuity of ideas, use of appropriate terms and connecting words; how to write special types of essays such as an argumentative essay (e) Require students to make proper oral presentation in class activitiesà S3 History Story Telling Activity requires students to present orally their research findings assisted by IT; All students are encouraged to provide appropriate oral answers in class discussion (f) Train students in thinking skillsà Students should understand and appreciate the diversity of the historians’ “interpretations” on historical issues & events; Students should understand and grasp the diversity of “critics” & “commentary” on current issues as released on mass media; how to formulate their own opinion on various issues from the above study.

- Encourage students to practise singing and playing their musical instrument every day, so as to gain a good result in their music examinations. Promote in students the desire to “become an active, independent learner.”
- Encourage Music Groups’ students to prepare well for their music playing part, so they will be able to play harmoniously when the group is playing together. This will help students to get the habit of “being responsible to yourself and others”.

- S5 & S7: They will be asked to tackle some difficult past paper questions in groups and present their ideas to the whole class. This will enhance students’ independence and interdependence in problem solving

Encourage students to participate actively in class and become independent learners.
- More questions will be asked to guide students thinking.
- Students who participate actively will be given marks that will contribute to the grades in participation as recorded in the report card.
- The cooperative learning approach will be adopted.
- Students will be asked to prepare for each lesson by (a) reading the prescribed readings and (b) preparing some questions before each lesson. Occasionally a worksheet will be given to help them to prepare for the next lesson.

- 在開學第一節課指導學生如何進入香港電台第五台聆聽普通話新聞(中一至中三),要求學生每週最少聆聽一次普通話新聞報導。
- 在開學第一節指導學生如何運用隨書附送之光盤(中二)。
- 在全年的課堂上最少兩次使用普通話台的新聞報道作聆聽教材。

- 為配合學校「學習主動 主動學習」之主題,增加課前準備、搜集資料之練習。
- 為配合學校對同學道德判斷能力培養之關注,在各級加入倫理學理論,以加強同學的道德思維能力。
- 為配合學校「提升學生責任感」之目標,於中一教授「責任感」之課題;並經常利用「責任感反思工作紙」,幫助同學檢討自己是否盡責。

- S1 students to conduct investigative projects on selected topics. Projects to be handed in with a power-point presentation. (5-7mins).
- To encourage students to have pre-lesson preparation, panel members will provide questions for students to answer in the coming lesson.
- Students have to attend the discussion forum and do the exercises on web-class as their daily performance. Panel members will set questions to encourage discussion on web-class.

Travel & Tourism
|
- Students need to do preparation before the lesson. Some tasks will be given to them beforehand
- A more much closer monitoring system will be employed to check students’ homework record to ensure students submit their work punctually.
- Tourism survey will be carried out in S4 at a tourist attraction in HK so as to enhance their independence in learning.
- S5 students will be asked to do some self-study in doing some reading tasks or writing tasks related to their CE curriculum.

- Notes will be distributed before lessons, so that students can prepare for the lessons.
- For S1 – S3: Students will be asked to give a presentation on one Arts topic to enhance their independence in learning. They have to search for the topic through the Internet or in books.
To encourage students to be more self-directed in their learning process.
- S5: Students will be asked to tackle some past paper questions individually and present their ideas to the whole class.
- S1 – S3: Encourage students to participate in group discussion.
- All students are encouraged to send their art work to local English newspapers.
