Objectives
Our school strives to create a vibrant English-rich environment where students can develop confidence and competence in using English for everyday communication, learning, and language appreciation. The English Panel works closely with the Language Across the Curriculum Committee and the Promotion of Reading Committee, as well as ECA teams such as the English Public Speaking and Debate Team and the English Society, to provide a wide range of learning experiences tailored to students’ interests, abilities, and needs. Through meaningful activities, competitions, and enrichment programmes, we aim to foster students’ motivation and self-directed learning, while nurturing a lifelong interest in the English language. We also seek to broaden students’ horizons by exposing them to different cultures, perspectives, and literary genres.

The English Public Speaking and Debate Team

Through debate training and competitions, students develop public speaking skills, critical and analytical thinking, teamwork and leadership skills.
Other Learning Opportunities
To cultivate strong reading habits and promote self-directed learning, students take part in a variety of programmes, including reading schemes, LACC English Passport Scheme, English Week Activities and Language Arts activities. Students are also provided with valuable learning opportunities through educational visits and out-of-town study tours. These programmes encourage students to use English beyond the classroom and develop a sense of ownership over their learning.
